Hamilton Crescent, the West of Scotland CC Midweek League XI, are Division 2 champions in 2018.
The team - incorrectly called Development XI on the WDCU website - started the campaign with a determined effort to win the title. This began well to the enjoyment of captain Amol Deshmukh. The the first six games were won. Despite three losses, seven wins from 10 games (a game conceded by Ferguslie) was enough to secure the title.
Cameron Gibb was the top run scorer with 186 runs with an average of 93. He also provided an excellent support as captain when Deshmukh was injured. Additionally, Ben Robinson was top wicket taker (eight wickets at 7.38) and chipped in 118 runs at 29.50. Other useful mentions go to Amol Deshmukh (103 runs), David Ogilvie (96) and Jesse Mills (97). Iain Wheel (7 wickets), Mike Ashworth (6) and Liam Howgate (5) were the pick of the bowlers.
Hamilton Crescent will be in Division 1 for the 2019 season where they will face much tougher opposition, a no doubt enjoyable challenge for the squad.
