Cricket in Store for This Weekend and Beyond
05 August 2010 - 20:31:23
Firstly, we now know that Partick's opponents in The Western Cup Final ( to be played at Hamilton Crescent) are East Kilbride. When we know the date it will be posted here pronto!
Saturday sees the Basement Battle in SNCL between us and Greenock at Glenpark. Only pride - and our reputation!! - are at stake but I am looking for a positive performance from McCrea FS West - building on the improvement I understand took place against Grange last weekend.
Partick entertain Helensburgh in Brunton Miller WU in another important league tussle. A win is pretty important and, again, the team must approach this with confidence and a will to succeed.
The Fixture Card tells me on Sunday that Hamilton Crescent XI play Glasgow Accies at home and this, too, is a game which needs a real effort from all the home players.
At this stage in the season lets all "play for the jersey" and show pride in playing for WSCC. Good luck!

Fantasy League- Week 14 Update
04 August 2010 - 09:26:34
Just four 1st XI and three 2nd XI fixtures to go this season and the Fantasy League is reaching an exciting climax. After much movement throughout the year it would appear it is now a three horse race with Ross Brown, Jatinder Singh and Jonny Graham within fifteen points of each other. Aftab Talpur and Cammy are 75 points further back but can't be ruled out just yet as strong individual performances from members of their respective teams can certainly bring them back into contention.
The hotly contested race for the wooden spoon will go to the wire with Wilson Galloway and Simon Brown seperated by just 30 points. Sadly for Wilson his team has been depleted somewhat by a combination of trips to Canada, broken elbows, flights home to New Zealand and the fact that one of his players decided to turn out for Kelburne this season!!
It is certainly worth noting that anyone who happens to be placed below 20th position is being beaten by the magnificent Misty Ralston, the dog. Illustrious names such as Jim Young x 2, Dougie McCrea, John Thomson, Douglas Lockhart and Andy Hislop (Legends of West?!) have fallen foul of the dog's selectorial genius!!
The full table is detailed below:

Under 13 news
03 August 2010 - 14:14:20
The Under 13s enjoyed a tense win at Ferguslie last night, finishing victors by 2 wickets with two balls to spare. Congratulations on a great all round effort, and especially to Matthew Day, who kept a level head through the difficult, closing overs.
Please note, boys, that your rained off match against Drumpellier at Coatbridge has been rearranged for Friday 13th August.

Final repeat for Partick XI
30 July 2010 - 09:52:15
Congratulations to Jonny Graham and the Partick XI who eventually beat the rain and won through against an enthusiastic Cambusdoon side to make the Western Cup final for the third successive year.
Batting first, Sprog led the way with an undefeated 48, well backed up by Stu Beaufoy with 28 getting us to 125 for 5 and then some tight bowling restricted Cambusdoon to less than 90 (full scores to follow).
We aren't sure of our opponents or the date yet but the final will be played midweek at Hamilton Crescent.

Rowan Cup Opportunity
22 July 2010 - 17:07:02
Although the Chairman has now returned from USA he will not be able to be at Friday's Rowan Cup Final as he has been told he has a prior engagement.
This should be really good news for McCrea FS West as, in the last eight years of his Chairmanship, there has been only 1 Cup Final victory (The 3s in 2009 for 2008)
for a West team when he has been present.
Come on, boys, take this opportunity for a famous West victory, after which I will need to decide whether I should come to Shawholm on Sunday. Good luck!!

22 July 2010 - 16:51:59
Ground conditions put paid to tonight's attempt to play the Rowan Cup Final. Come back tomorrow folks. The outcome must be settled then.
The U18 Cup Tie has suffered the same fate and will be rescheduled, with next Wednesday being the most likely date.
