Availability to Play - Let's Communicate!
08 June 2010 - 19:03:15
Just a reminder. So that the selectors know who is available for each fixture please locate the Team Availability Sheet on the Player's Noticeboard and make sure you mark on it if you are unavailable for any game - preferably several weeks before!
This will make the selection of teams much easier than has been the case in the last few weeks and will save the captains scurrying about at the last minute to find eleven players.
Thanks.

Mixed Weekend Ends with Cup Success for McCrea FS West and the West Kwik Cricketers
07 June 2010 - 18:40:59
Saturday saw the Basement Battle between Greenock and McCrea FS West ending in a deserved victory for the Glenpark side. Partick travelled to play bottom side Helensburgh and similarly failed. Saturday's weather was superb - the cricket certainly was not!
Sunday was another day. As our Junior Correspondent has reported The West Kwik Cricketers became Champions at the Helensburgh Kwik Cricket Festival. Congrats to all the players and coach. Here is our future!!
Meanwhile, the 3s (Hamilton Crescent XI) were defending their 2008 Strathclyde Shield victory in the delayed 2009 Final. Having reduced Active Life to 110 for 7, they allowed the Paisley side to reach 200 in their 40 overs. This was too much for our guys who finshed on 162. Well done, Active Life.
Your correspondent left a dry Glasgow to drive to Linlithgow for the Scottish Cup tie between McCrea FS West and West Lothian. Firstly, the news that Dougie Lockhart had damaged a finger the previous day and could not play, and secondly, the phone call from Tom Anderson at Boghall saying it was wet, cool and the start was delayed, followed by the fact I got lost, was a truly inauspicious start to the second day of a dodgy weekend!
However, play did start at 2.45 with a 38 over match. Moneeb, opening, scored 41, and shared a second wicket stand with Youngy of 52. 52 for 2 became 130 for 7 before The Pirate 22no and Jats 12no made a spirited effort to raise the total to 160. Persistent rain fell all afternoon and at teatime increased in strength to force another delay. Eventually West Lothian were set 138 off 28 overs (Dear old D/L)
A slow start followed by the wicket at 53 of the prolific van Wyk and 2 further wickets before 55 put McCrea FS West in the driving seat. However a dashing 51 from Dixon changed the emphasis again and McCrea FS West were having to defend strongly to prevent another giant killing act by the home side. Tidy bowling by Kash 3 for 31, The Pirate 3 for 24 and The Pro, bowling tall and from the scorebox end, restricted WL to 131. Their efforts were enhanced by 4 magnificent catches from emerging wicketkeeper, IDK Young, and vital efforts from Kash and Jats.
A victory by 6 runs - and some light at the end of the weekend tunnel. Well done, guys - this WAS a good effort in difficult conditions and circumstances. Lets see who we face in the Quarter Finals!

Greenwood Cup Exit for 3s
03 June 2010 - 20:42:36
Tonight's disappointing result at Hamilton Crescent
Active Life 139
Hamilton Crescent XI 100
Result: 3s lost by 39 runs and exit the Greenwood Cup for 2010. These two teams meet again on Sunday and if the 3s want to retain the Strathclyde Shield there has to be a much better all round performance.
