Partick XI well beaten by Hillhead

Squad players get some time on the park.
Partick played Hillhead in a pre season friendly that presented a great opportunity for new players to make their debut and to continue to blood younger players.
West won the toss and elected to bat but struggled to apply themselves. After a reasonable start West lost a steady stream of wickets in the middle and were bowled out for 62. Stand out performer was Liam Howgate with a steady 17.
The captains agreed to head out before tea and despite several early wickets Hillhead continued to make steady progress towards the total. Dan Graveling was the pick of west’s bowling picking up 2 wickets. Ultimately Hillhead chased the total down with 5 wickets to spare.
Play stopped for tea with Hillhead resuming to chase a revised total of 120 to allow both sides more middle practice. West raised standards slightly at this point and youngsters Will Hunt and Nakul Jain showed promise with the ball. Hillhead eventually reached their revised total with plenty of time to spare.
While the performance was not what was desired, the match was a great opportunity for new players to play a competitive standard of cricket and showed plenty of places for improvement as we enter the season.
