The Forecast is series of weekend previews for the 2026 season. We cover team selection, form, fixtures and who to look out for in the weekend’s fixtures! We hope to not have to cover the rain!
Saturday
Elston Clydesdale v Allied Vehicles West of Scotland
The Allied Vehicles West of Scotland XI make the short trip to Glasgow’s southside this weekend as they take on league leaders Clydesdale, looking to avenge league and cup defeats to the Titwood side earlier this season. Clydesdale remain the only team with a 100 per cent record in Premiership One, including a dramatic one-wicket victory at Hamilton Crescent back in May. They continued their unbeaten run last weekend with a low-scoring win over GHK, thanks in large part to a sensational spell from Zeeshan Bashir, who returned remarkable figures of 5 for 6. West, meanwhile, will be aiming to bounce back from last weekend’s home defeat to Prestwick and strengthen their position in the race for the top four.
Partick XI v Clydesdale Titwood
Meanwhile, both clubs’ second XIs meet at Hamilton Crescent as the Championship Division One title race continues to gather pace. Both Partick and Titwood remain in pursuit of league leaders Whitehaugh, who maintained their 100 per cent record with victory over Renfrew last weekend. Chris Ross’s side travel into the fixture on the back of an impressive win at St Ninian’s, while Titwood also enjoyed success, defeating GHK Strathclyde. The visitors claimed the reverse fixture by 91 runs back in May after posting an imposing 275 from their 50 overs, so Partick will be eager to reverse that result and keep the pressure on the teams above them. First ball is scheduled for 12pm, with a mixed weather forecast.
Hamilton Crescent XI v 'Vigilant' Nunholm Dumfries 2nd XI
Our 3rd XI also face a stern test this weekend as Championship Division Two leaders Nunholm visit Stirling. In what has become one of the closest title races in the Western District, the Dumfries side hold only a narrow advantage over Woodhall East Kilbride at the top of the table and will be keen to strengthen their position. Nunholm have enjoyed the upper hand in this fixture in recent seasons, including a 39-run victory over Hamilton Crescent back in gameweek 4. They arrive on the back of a dramatic last-over win at Albert Park, with captain Andrew Dawson’s unbeaten 39 proving decisive. Hamilton Crescent, meanwhile, will be looking to build on the positives from their narrow defeat to Mearns 2s.
Sunday
West of Scotland Women v Carlton Women (Women's T20 Scottish Cup)
West’s Women’s XI host Carlton Women in the Women’s T20 Scottish Cup this weekend, as the sides prepare to meet for the second of three consecutive fixtures. Abbey Gore’s side will be looking to put last weekend’s defeat behind them as they aim to knock the Grange Loan side out of the competition and secure a place at finals day, which takes place in Stirling on 15 August. West reached this stage after a convincing seven wicket victory over RH Corstorphine Women in May, while Carlton received a bye into the quarter-finals. Play is scheduled to begin at 1pm at Hamilton Crescent, although rain is forecast earlier in the day.
West of Scotland Women 2XI v Westquarter & Redding Women
Meanwhile, West’s Women’s 2nd XI continue their Women’s Challenger League West campaign with a fixture against Westquarter & Redding Women at Garscube, Milngavie. Both sides head into the match unbeaten in this competition this season, setting up an exciting contest between two teams competing for top spot in the round-robin standings. Westquarter & Redding come into the fixture after a victory over Stenhousemuir, where Julie Badcock’s 30 helped guide them to success. West will be looking to make early inroads against their opponents and will know that dismissing Badcock quickly could prove crucial.
