Saturday
Allied Vehicles West of Scotland continued their strong Premiership One campaign with a four wicket victory over Renfrew at Hamilton Crescent. Despite winning the toss and electing to bat, the visitors struggled to build any momentum as Mekyle Pillay struck early, setting the tone with figures of 2 for 15. Graeme Etheridge then continued his outstanding run of form, claiming 4 for 35, including a superb caught and bowled that showcased some sharp reflexes. Renfrew were eventually dismissed for 118, leaving West a modest target which they chased down with four wickets to spare. The victory consolidates their position in third place in the Premiership One table, behind leaders Clydesdale and second-placed Ferguslie.
It was a high-scoring encounter at King George V Playing Fields as the Partick XI defeated Renfrew 2nd XI by 45 runs. Andrew Appleton and Ben Cole (39) gave West the perfect start, sharing an opening stand of 80 before the first wicket fell, with Appleton going on to score an excellent 65 from 70 balls. That platform allowed the middle order to build, with James Scott contributing 39 before youngster Innes Algie struck a quickfire 55 from 57 deliveries to help Partick post an imposing 274 for 9 from their 50 overs. Renfrew responded positively and kept the scoreboard moving throughout their chase, but regular breakthroughs prevented them from mounting a sustained challenge. Opening bowlers Ekaansh Kapila and Dave McNulty claimed two wickets apiece before the spin duo of Algie and Jonny Williams also struck twice each to keep West in control. An unbeaten 45 from number 10 Ranjit Singh ensured the hosts battled to the end, but Renfrew were eventually dismissed well short in an entertaining contest that produced more than 500 runs across the 100 overs.
It was a tempestuous affair in Stirling, where the Hamilton Crescent XI went down to a 43-run defeat to Albert Park. Despite an early wicket from Santhosh Kadavath, it was a difficult start for West’s 3rd XI as Albert Park imposed their batting dominance, scoring 228 for 8 from their 40 overs. Spinner Saaid Arshad Sufi was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 for 37. "The Cobra", Rehan Mirza Ahmed, top scored with 39 at the top of the order for Hamilton Crescent, but it was always going to be a difficult chase as West eventually finished 43 runs short. There was, however, an impressive rearguard effort from Kadavath, who made 33 from 58 balls while being cheered on by a vocal crowd from the sidelines. The defeat sees Hamilton Crescent slip to sixth in the Championship Division Two table.
Sunday

Despite disciplined bowling performances from James Fennah and Graeme Etheridge, who both claimed two wickets, Ferguslie posted a competitive 139 from their 20 overs. In reply, West were led by captain Sam Page, whose composed 54 from 54 deliveries kept the chase alive before he was bowled by Michael English. West battled hard until the closing stages but ultimately fell short of a place in the final. Ferguslie progressed to face Clydesdale, who went on to lift the trophy.

It was a better afternoon for West of Scotland’s Women’s 2nd XI however as they defeated Stenhousemuir by 66 runs.
