The Forecast is series of weekend previews for the 2026 season. We cover team selection, form, fixtures and who to look out for in the weekend’s fixtures! We hope to not have to cover the rain!
Saturday
Kelburne vs Allied Vehicles West of Scotland
Allied Vehicles West of Scotland make the short trip to Paisley this weekend to take on Kelburne as they look to end a run of three consecutive defeats and rediscover the form that saw them make such a strong start to the season. Last weekend’s low scoring loss to Stenhousemuir left West fourth in the Premiership One table, but with the top three still within reach, there is plenty to play for as the season enters a crucial period. Kelburne, meanwhile, sit eighth after last week’s fixture at GHK was forfeited due to concerns over the condition of the pitch. The hosts will be hoping to climb away from the foot of the table, with former West player Lucas Farndale likely to feature against his old club.
Partick XI vs Whitehaugh
After an emphatic victory away to Stirling in the last round of fixtures, the Partick XI return to Hamilton Crescent looking to build on that momentum as they host league leaders Whitehaugh. Captain Chris Ross led from the front with the ball last weekend, while Ben Cole continued his impressive form with the bat as West secured a comfortable win and both retain their places alongside the returning Andy Appleton. The visitors also come into the match in good spirits after winning a low scoring encounter against GHK Strathclyde and currently sit top of the Championship Division One table with five victories from five matches. With two of the division’s form sides meeting in Glasgow, an intriguing contest is in store. First ball is at 12pm.
Sunday
Hamilton Crescent XI vs Anniesland
It’s a bumper day of cricket for the club, with the Hamilton Crescent XI switching to Sunday action for one week only as they host Anniesland in Stirling. Moosa Vakil’s side come into the fixture in good form, having won their last two matches, and can name a largely unchanged team from the side that secured an impressive victory away to Woodhall East Kilbride last weekend. Their visitors sit just one place below them in the Championship Division Two table and will also arrive full of confidence after an eight wicket win over Hillhead 2nd XI at Hughenden. Suraj Suvarna was the standout performer in that victory, finishing unbeaten on 48 as Anniesland comfortably chased down their target.
Women’s 2XI v Stenhousemuir
West Women’s 2nd XI return to Women’s Challenger League West action on Sunday as they take on Stenhousemuir for the second time this season. Cammy Sriram’s side will take plenty of confidence from their previous meeting at The Tryst, where a strong all round performance secured a 30 run victory. Having made an encouraging start to the competition, West will be looking to build further momentum and strengthen their position in the three team round robin. The match gets underway at 12pm at Garscube.
Sunday XI vs Hillhead
Rizwan Hussain’s Sunday XI return to action this weekend after a few weeks away as they welcome Hillhead to Hamilton Crescent. Fixtures between the two sides have often produced entertaining cricket in recent seasons and another competitive encounter is expected. As ever, the side features a blend of emerging players, occasional cricketers and experienced club members, providing an opportunity for everyone to enjoy a day’s cricket in West colours. The team will take confidence from their impressive victory away to Ferguslie a few weeks back and will be hoping to build on that performance when they return to home surroundings.
