150th Anniversary of first ever Scotland v Wales match

West of Scotland Cricket Club extends its congratulations to the Football Association of Wales on the 150th anniversary of Wales’s first international match against Scotland, held at our Hamilton Crescent ground in Partick, Glasgow, on 25 March 1876.

Hamilton Crescent also holds a unique place in football history as the venue for the first FIFA-recognised international, between Scotland and England, on 30 November 1872.

While Scotland won that inaugural meeting with Wales in 1876 4-0, we warmly wish the current Welsh side every success in their World Cup 2026 play-off against Bosnia and Herzegovina this Thursday.
