West to host GHK in league opener

The West District Cricket Union has published the fixtures for the men’s 2026 season as West will kick off with a Glasgow city derby on the opening weekend of Premiership One.

GHK will visit Hamilton Crescent on Saturday 2 May (12pm start) as the West of Scotland XI return to the top division, having been crowned 2025 Premiership Two champions.

It promises to be a busy start for our first team, who begin their campaign with a tricky Scottish Cup trip to Ayr on Sunday 26 April, followed by away fixtures at Hillhead and Renfrew shortly after the GHK clash.

The Partick XI will open their season with the return trip to GHK Strathclyde, before hosting Renfrew’s second string at home on Saturday 9 May (12pm start).

The Hamilton Crescent XI will travel to The Tryst in Stirling on the opening weekend, followed by their first away match at Albert Park on Glasgow’s southside a week later.

West will also host two preseason friendlies: Hamilton Crescent XI face Mearns 2s on Saturday 25 April, and Partick XI take on Bothwell on Sunday 26 April.

The full fixture list is available in the Fixtures section of our homepage. Women’s and junior fixtures will be announced shortly.
