The Forecast: Ayr travel to West for final day
The Forecast is series of weekend previews for the 2026 season. We cover team selection, form, fixtures and who to look out for in the weekend’s fixtures! We hope to not have to cover the rain!
The final weekend of the season has arrived already - here’s what we have lined up at Hamilton Crescent and beyond.
Saturday
Allied Vehicles West of Scotland vs Ayr
There’s a mid-table clash at Hamilton Crescent as fifth-placed Ayr visit fourth-placed Allied Vehicles West of Scotland. West will be looking to bounce back from defeat at Drumpellier last Saturday, while Ayr compounded the woes of bottom-placed GHK with a 148-run victory at New Cambusdoon. Five wickets for Robbie Walsh and four for Jake Woodhouse completed the rout within 13 overs, meaning West will have to contend with an in-form opening bowling pair. However, they can take confidence into the fixture, having beaten Ayr away from home in both the league and Scottish Cup this season. Play starts at 11am in Glasgow, with overcast conditions and some rain forecast.
Cambusdoon vs Partick XI
In Championship One, meanwhile, the Partick XI make the reverse journey as they travel to the seaside to take on Cambusdoon. The home side currently sit sixth in the table, while Partick have all but confirmed a third-place finish following last Saturday’s defeat at home to Langloan. Cambusdoon, meanwhile, secured a 28-run victory over struggling GHK Strathclyde after recovering from 34 for 4 to post 234 for 7. Jonathan Baines (4-37) and Jackson Smith (3-33) were the standout performers with the ball and will be ones for Partick to watch.
Glenpark vs Hamilton Crescent XI
A much-changed 3rd XI travel to Greenock to take on Glenpark, hoping to build on last week’s victory over M8 Driving Ferguslie 2nd XI, which secured their Championship Two status. Wickets from Saeed Sufi and runs from Rauhit Krishnan were enough to see West past the Paisley side, but limited availability is likely to result in a significantly different XI taking the field in Inverclyde. Glenpark, meanwhile, come into the game on the back of their first victory of the season, having defeated fellow strugglers Anniesland by four wickets. Mahmood Ahmadzai’s 44 helped secure the win for captain Muhammad Ahmad’s side.
Sunday
West of Scotland Women v East Kilbride Women
On the final day of the Cricket Scotland Women’s Premier League 40 season, West’s Women take on East Kilbride Women hoping to arrest their recent run of poor form. Last week’s defeat to Grampian Thistles was their fourth successive loss, but West can take encouragement from the form of Nadia Tolliday, who took six wickets, and Olivia McGhee, who finished with four. East Kilbride, meanwhile, come into the game on the back of an impressive 37-run victory over league leaders Carlton. A 174-run partnership between Rebecca McCrossan and Nayma Sheikh put East Kilbride firmly in control before wickets for Sheikh and Zehra Khan helped complete the victory.
