From the Dressing Room: Convincing Win at St Ninians

Ekaansh Kapila is our latest budding reporter from the 2nd XI writing about Partick’s win in Prestwick on Saturday.

On a very warm summers day in Prestwick, Partick XI arrived to an outfield that looked more like the Sahara desert than a cricket field. Partick then sadly lost the toss and were sent in to bowl. Kadavath started brilliantly taking a wicket in the first over of the game as he finished with (1-14) off 5 overs. Alongside him Kapila took (1-30) off 6 overs beating the outside edge of the bat multiple times per over.

After the seamers finished their stint, the spinners were brought on to skittle St Ninians. Algie, Cole and Williams bowled superbly, bowling tight lines and mixing up their paces which allowed them to take 5 wickets as a group. Setting St Ninians back to 121-7 after 34 overs. Taking the remaining 3 wickets was skipper Chris Ross with a “clinical” bowling display as he proceeded to get 3 12-year-olds out. This left St Ninians all out for 123 after 37.5 overs. Special Mention to St Ninian’s skipper Calum Rodger for a classy 67 including 9 lovely 4s.

Partick opened the batting with Krishnan and Cole, where Krishnan went for a well made 15. Allowing young Algie to come in and show the boys how it’s done, scoring 58 off 46 including 12 blistering boundaries. After Algie was dismissed, Scott and Galloway finished the job with 28* and 13* respectively. With Partick reaching 124 after 18 overs and beating St Ninians by 7 wickets.
