Saturday
Allied Vehicles West of Scotland vs Shimla Cottage Drumpellier
Allied Vehicles West of Scotland return to Hamilton Crescent this weekend to face Shimla Cottage Drumpellier, looking to build on last Saturday’s welcome return to winning ways at Kelburne. West claimed a hard fought 35 run victory in a low scoring encounter, with former captain James Fennah producing a match winning spell to claim six wickets. Drumpellier, meanwhile, saw their fixture against GHK abandoned without a ball being bowled and arrive sitting sixth in the Premiership One table, just two points behind West. Their last completed match came on 6 June when they secured an impressive victory over Ayr at New Cambusdoon, underlining the challenge awaiting the home side. First ball is scheduled for 12pm with better weather forecast later in the day.
Langloan vs Partick XI
In Championship Division One, the Partick XI travel to Langloan looking to arrest a recent dip in form that has seen them win just one of their last four matches. Despite falling 13 runs short against league leaders Whitehaugh at Hamilton Crescent last weekend, there were plenty of positives to take from the bowling performance as West restricted the visitors to a total of fewer than 100. Langloan, meanwhile, have been affected by the recent poor June weather conditions, but their last completed league fixture ended in defeat to Cambusdoon. Shehroz Mehmood was the standout performer with the ball on that occasion, claiming impressive figures of 3 for 18, and is likely to be a key player once again.
M8 Driving Ferguslie 2nd XI vs Hamilton Crescent XI
The in form Hamilton Crescent XI return to Saturday action this weekend with a trip to Meikleriggs to face fellow promotion contenders M8 Driving Ferguslie 2nd XI. They completed a convincing seven wicket victory over Anniesland last Sunday, dismissing the visitors for just 99 before comfortably reaching their target before the drinks break. Ferguslie sit one place above Hamilton Crescent in third in the Championship Division Two table and will provide a stern test, despite seeing their fixture at East Kilbride abandoned last weekend after posting an imposing 199 all out.
Women’s 2XI v Stenhousemuir
West Women’s 2nd XI return to Women’s Challenger League West action on Sunday as they take on Stenhousemuir for the second time this season. Cammy Sriram’s side will take plenty of confidence from their previous meeting at The Tryst, where a strong all round performance secured a 30 run victory. Having made an encouraging start to the competition, West will be looking to build further momentum and strengthen their position in the three team round robin. The match gets underway at 12pm at Garscube.
Sunday
Sunday XI vs Hillhead
A rematch of last weekend’s Sunday XI fixture against Hillhead awaits at Hamilton Crescent this week, with both sides eager to build on an entertaining encounter. West will take plenty of encouragement from the performances of several of the club’s younger players, with Samuel McMillan, Thomas Kitchen and Adhrit Singh all impressing with the ball and continuing their development. Hillhead, meanwhile, will be keen to respond after a challenging afternoon, not least after conceding 15 runs to occasional batting Sunday skipper Rizwan Hussain. With both teams expected to feature a mix of youth and experience, another enjoyable contest looks in store.
