From the Dressing Room: A narrow defeat
Our latest match report comes from Andrew Appleton on Saturday’s Partick XI defeat at home to Whitehaugh
As we arrived on Saturday we were unsure if we would be starting on time. The weather was cold with anything ranging from shorts to waterproofs being worn in the warm up. Saturday was a tough day for the bat on both sides. We lost the toss and were in the field.
The opposition started positively but some tight bowling from Dave and Ben provided us with some early wickets. We continued to apply pressure in the field picking up wickets are regular intervals with us requiring 93 to win.
Unfortunately we couldn’t apply the pressure we would have liked with the bat, letting a few easy wickets go. The opposition jumped on this and we were 40/5 going into the lunch break. Wickets continued to fall at unfavourable times and we fell short by 13 runs. Despite this it was a good day out played in the right spirit.
