From the Dressing Room: Stenny strong start too much for West
Oscar Fry, fresh for a five wicket haul at Hamilton Crescent, writes up the Allied Vehicles West of Scotland XI’s defeat to Stenhousemuir last weekend.
After a rainy morning at Hamilton Crescent, the home side lost the toss and were asked to field first. Stenhousemuir’s big hitters put West on the back foot early, reaching 77 for 1 inside 14 overs. However, a middle overs fightback led by Anthony Hulatt (10-1-23-1) and Oscar Fry (6-19-5) brought West back into the game as Stenhousemuir were bowled out for 129.
After slumping to 67 for 7 in reply, the target of 129 proved too much for the West lower order. Despite some resistance, the hosts were bowled out for 108, falling to a 21 run defeat.
