Saturday
The Allied Vehicles West of Scotland XI were defeated by 21 runs by LOC Hire Stenhousemuir in a closely contested encounter at Hamilton Crescent. Stenhousemuir won the toss and elected to bat, making a strong start as Bahadar Esakhiel (43) and Yaseen Valli (31) helped the visitors reach 81 for 1. However, a brilliant spell from Oscar Fry, who finished with outstanding figures of 5 for 19 and was also involved in a run out, triggered a collapse that saw Stenhousemuir dismissed for 129 inside 33 overs. In reply, West never managed to gain control of the chase, losing wickets at regular intervals as Jatin Rana led the visitors' attack with 3 for 27. There was late hope when Anthony Hulatt and Jesse Mills shared a partnership of 33, including a huge straight six from Hulatt, but it proved too little too late as West were bowled out for 108. The result sees Stenhousemuir leapfrog West in the table, although the hosts remain fourth in Premiership One following results elsewhere.
The Partick XI, however, returned to winning ways with a dominant seven wicket victory over Stirling 2nd XI at New Williamfield. Having elected to bat first, the hosts found themselves overwhelmed by an excellent West bowling performance, led by captain Chris Ross, whose outstanding figures of 6 for 23 ripped through the Stirling batting line up. He was well supported by Ben Cole, who claimed 2 for 10, as the home side were dismissed for just 77. West made light work of the chase, with Cole (30) and Avaneesh Yilapavanam (24) laying a solid foundation before Himansh Joshi (13*) and Rauhit Krishnan (2*) guided the visitors over the line with minimal fuss. The victory lifts Partick into third place in the Championship Division One table.
There was also success for the Hamilton Crescent XI as they secured a four wicket victory away to Woodhall East Kilbride. Having won the toss and elected to bowl, West produced a disciplined all round performance to restrict the hosts to 182 for 9 from their 40 overs. Youngster Adhrit Singh continued his recent fine form with the ball, claiming impressive figures of 3 for 25. In reply, the in form Shaheer Hussain gave West a strong start, striking two sixes on his way to 47, before a determined partnership between Akshat Fondekar (38) and Swami Ananthanarayanan (38) guided the chase towards its conclusion. West eventually reached their target with four overs to spare, securing a second consecutive victory and moving up to sixth place in the Championship Division Two table.
