The Forecast: West host Kelburne as run-in heats up
The Forecast is series of weekend previews for the 2026 season. We cover team selection, form, fixtures and who to look out for in the weekend’s fixtures! We hope to not have to cover the rain!
Saturday
Allied Vehicles West of Scotland vs Kelburne
Attention turns to the bottom of Premiership One this weekend as relegation-threatened Kelburne visit Hamilton Crescent looking for a crucial win. The Paisley club currently sit ninth in the ten-team table, just two points behind GHK, after crushing their Glasgow basement rivals by nine wickets at Whitehaugh last Saturday. Meanwhile, Allied Vehicles West of Scotland will be looking to bounce back from a stinging defeat at the hands of Stenhousemuir, which saw them drop to fourth in the table. Play starts at 12pm in Glasgow, with dry conditions forecast.
Whitehaugh vs Partick XI
The game of the day, however, is likely to come in the reverse fixture as our 2nd XI visit in-form league leaders Whitehaugh in Championship One. Both sides were victorious last weekend, with Partick defeating Stirling County 2nd XI at Hamilton Crescent, while Whitehaugh’s 2nd XI beat GHK Strathclyde by nine wickets. An outstanding 4 for 9 from captain Andrew Miller helped Whitehaugh retain top spot in the table, and he will be looking to repeat his side’s narrow 13-run victory over Partick earlier in the season this weekend.
Anniesland vs Hamilton Crescent XI
Our 3rd XI can strengthen their position in Championship Two when they travel to face struggling Anniesland. Hamilton Crescent produced another impressive result against a table-topping side last Saturday, defeating Woodhall East Kilbride in a high-scoring affair, with half-centuries from Shaheer Hussain and Swami Ananthanarayanan proving critical. Our 3s made short work of Anniesland when the sides met in June, chasing down a target of 100 before the drinks break but they cannot afford to be complacent against an Anniesland side who posted 220 in defeating Hillhead 2nd XI last weekend.
Sunday
There is further action on Sunday as West of Scotland’s Women 2nd XI travel to play Westquarter & Redding in their latest Women's Challenger League - West fixture. In a game which was rearranged from July, Cammy Sriram’s side will look to bounce back from a recent last over 3-wicket defeat to the same opposition. Meanwhile, the Sunday XI host the Forty Club in our annual John Cameron Trophy game, which has also been rearranged from earlier in the season. With regular Sunday captain Rizy Hussain unavaliable, John McDermott steps in for what will be a great experience for all involved. Play is due to start at 1pm.
