Saturday
Prestwick vs Allied Vehicles West of Scotland XI
The Allied Vehicles West of Scotland XI travel to Prestwick this weekend looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season in league and cup competitions. The hosts, meanwhile, will be aiming to respond after a difficult opening fortnight in which they were bowled out cheaply in both matches, including 61 all out against GHK last weekend. West will be wary of the threat posed by Fletcher Rao, who has already claimed four wickets so far this season.
Partick XI vs St Ninians
In Championship Division One, two in form sides meet at Hamilton Crescent as Partick host St Ninians. Despite dominating large periods of last Saturday’s match against Renfrew 2nd XI, West’s second string were forced to settle for a narrow three wicket victory, while St Ninians arrive in Glasgow on the back of an emphatic win over GHK Strathclyde. Fraser Rodger has impressed with the bat for the Ayrshire side in the opening weeks of the campaign, while Kalyan Vangari has starred with the ball, taking 4 for 33 at Old Anniesland.
Hamilton Crescent XI vs Mearns 2nd XI
The 3rd XI return to their home ground in Stirling this weekend looking to halt a difficult start to the season. After suffering a heavy defeat defending a low total last weekend, West now face a Mearns side who have won both of their opening fixtures, including a four wicket victory over The Tryst last time out. Rahul Jagdule was the standout performer for the East Renfrewshire side last weekend, claiming 4 for 15 before completing an impressive all round display with 50 runs.
Sunday
Women’s XI v Stewart’s Melville
Following an impressive victory over Watsonian last weekend, West Women return to Hamilton Crescent looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. A strong all round performance with both bat and ball in Edinburgh will give Abbey Gore’s side plenty of confidence as they host Stewart’s Melville in the visitors’ second match of the campaign. The Edinburgh side suffered a seven wicket defeat to Carlton last weekend, although Kathryn White arrives in good form after an impressive 44 from 59 balls.
Hillhead CC v Sunday XI
The Sunday XI return to familiar surroundings at Hughenden this weekend as they look to build on some encouraging performances, despite defeat in Ayr last Sunday. Rizwan Hussain’s side were involved in several closely fought contests against Hillhead last season and will be looking forward to renewing those rivalries once again.
