The Forecast: West visit East Kilbride

The Forecast will be our series of weekend previews for the 2025 season. We hope to cover team selection, form, fixtures and who to look out for in the weekend’s fixtures! We hope to not have to cover the rain!

Week eleven of the Western District Cricket League brings three crucial games for West’s senior sides.

Saturday

East Kilbride vs West of Scotland XI

James Fennah’s side travel to South Lanarkshire to face East Kilbride. Following a strong performance to defeat Irvine last weekend, the West of Scotland XI will look to capiatlise on it with a good performance against a side who currently sit 8th in the Western Premiership Two table. West won the reverse fixture by more than a hundred runs back in May.

Partick XI vs Cambusdoon

The second eleven, meanwhile, return to Hamilton Crescent with a fixture against Cambusdoon. Partick will be looking for revenge after a defeat in Ayr on the second Saturday of the season. That was, however, Cambusdoon’s only win of the season and they currently sit 9th in the Western Championship One table. First ball at 12pm.

Hamilton Crescent XI vs Renfrew 2

After two weekend washouts, the Hamilton Crescent host league leaders Renfrew 2 in a tough encounter at their adopted home in Stirling. Skipper Moosa Vakhil is expected to return following injury and will likely be needed against a side who has won 5 of its 7 games so far. All rounder Sahil Chopra is expected to be the dangerman for the visitors.

Sunday

Sunday XI vs Stenhousemuir XI

The Sunday XI, meanwhile, are at home to a side from Stenhousemuir on Sunday in what are expected to be soaring temperatures in Glasgow. The Sunday side won their last game at home to a Hillhead XI two weeks ago so will look to build on their recent success.
