Saturday
M8 Driving Ferguslie v Allied Vehicles West of Scotland
In Premiership One, Allied Vehicles West of Scotland travel to Ferguslie this weekend looking to respond positively to last Saturday’s agonising one wicket defeat to Clydesdale. West pushed The Dale all the way at Hamilton Crescent and now face the only other unbeaten side remaining in the division in what promises to be another stern test. Ferguslie arrive in excellent form after demolishing GHK at Old Anniesland last weekend, bowling the hosts out for just 82 before racing to victory inside 17 overs with eight wickets to spare. Daoud Tahir impressed with four wickets in that victory, while experienced opener Michael English is a key threat at the top of the order. First ball in Paisley is scheduled for 12pm.
Partick XI vs Bothwell
At Hamilton Crescent, the Partick XI return to Championship Division One action this weekend with the visit of Bothwell. Uddingston’s second string sit in mid-table after four rounds of fixtures and arrive in Glasgow on the back of a convincing six wicket victory over GHK Strathclyde last weekend. Rohail Jahan-Zeb starred with four wickets as the Lanarkshire side dismissed their hosts for 133, before opener Ahtsham Hafiz guided the chase with an unbeaten 83 to seal victory inside 25 overs. West, meanwhile, will be looking to respond positively following last weekend’s defeat to traditional title rivals Titwood, with a strong Partick side set to take the field. Play begins at 12pm.
Hamilton Crescent XI vs Hillhead 2
The Hamilton Crescent XI will also be looking to return to winning ways this weekend as they host local rivals Hillhead 2nd XI in Stirling. Moosa Vakil’s side were defeated by 39 runs in a high scoring encounter away to Nunholm last Saturday, although Shaheer Hussain continued his fine form with a second successive half century. Hillhead, meanwhile, have enjoyed a mixed start to the campaign with two wins and two defeats from their opening four matches. They arrive in good spirits after edging past Mearns Challengers by three wickets with just three balls remaining last weekend, with Jacques Grosvenor claiming 5 for 33 before Paul Bartlett’s 54 guided the visitors to victory.
Sunday
Women’s XI vs RH Corstorphine Women
The Women’s T20 Scottish Cup begins this weekend with West’s Women’s XI hosting RH Corstorphine at Hamilton Crescent. Abbey Gore’s team will be out to avenge last week’s defeat to RHC Lynx last weekend but will draw some confidence from having won this competition back in 2023. Play is scheduled to begin at 1pm in Glasgow and West members and supporters are encouraged to come along and offer their support.
Ferguslie vs Sunday XI
Our Sunday best travel to Paisley hoping to make it a double of victories for West at Meikleriggs this weekend. Captain Rizwan Hussain will hope for an improved result after defeat at Ayr and a washout at Hillhead in previous weeks and can draw on reinforcements with plenty of players with Saturday league experience coming into the side including Akshat Fondekar and Ali Maddock.
