The Forecast: Double derby weekend

The Forecast is series of weekend previews for the 2026 season. We cover team selection, form, fixtures and who to look out for in the weekend’s fixtures! We hope to not have to cover the rain!

Come along and offer your support to Allied Vehicles West of Scotland this coming weekend as we host a double header with old rivals Elston Clydesdale at Hamilton Crescent.

Saturday

Allied Vehicles West of Scotland XI vs Elston Clydesdale (Scottish Cup)

The sides meet in league action for the first time since 2024 on Saturday, with both clubs looking to continue strong starts to the season. West will arrive in confident mood having won all three of their matches so far, including a hard fought victory away at Prestwick last weekend. After wickets for the 2XI, Callum Dutia returns for West. The Dale were denied the chance to build on their own positive form last time out after rain brought an early end to their home fixture against GHK. Before the weather intervened, the Southside club had posted 225 all out, with opener Wasim Qureshi top scoring with 49. First ball is scheduled for 12pm, with a dry afternoon currently forecast.

Clydesdale Titwood vs Partick XI

Our 2nd XI make the return trip to Glasgow’s Southside this weekend for a fixture that has increasingly become a battle between two Championship Division One title contenders. Chris Ross’s side edged past St Ninians by five wickets last weekend and arrive in strong form, having won all three of their league matches so far to maintain an unbeaten start. Titwood, meanwhile, have completed just one fixture so far this season, recording victory over Cambusdoon on matchday two, and will be eager to build momentum on home turf.

Nunholm vs Hamilton Crescent XI

After securing their first victory of the season last weekend, the Hamilton Crescent XI return to action with a challenging away trip to Dumfries. Moosa Vakil’s side eventually chased down 121 against Mearns 2nd XI by four wickets in a contest that proved far tighter than expected after a strong start to the reply. Nunholm, meanwhile, have won two of their opening three fixtures and arrive in good form following a convincing six wicket victory over Langside last weekend. Opener Wahidullah Jabarkhil impressed with 69 in that match, while Patrick Druce and Ross Lamb both claimed three wickets.

Sunday

Allied Vehicles West of Scotland XI vs Elston Clydesdale

Clydesdale return to Hamilton Crescent on Sunday for a mouth watering Scottish Cup quarter final derby. The current holders have impressed on their route to the last eight, defeating Kelburne and Carlton, with Isaac Rahman claiming seven wickets in the competition so far. Vice captain Rafay Khan also played a key role in their second round victory, striking an unbeaten 60 from the lower order to guide The Dale through. West, meanwhile, arrive in strong cup form of their own after opening the campaign with victory at Ayr before overwhelming Renfrew by 171 runs at Hamilton Crescent in round two. Ali Sidhu is replaced by Oscar Fry for the hosts, whilst batting is reinforced by the return of Moneed Iqbal. The match starts at 12pm with sun forecast.

RHC Lynx v Women’s XI

Our unbeaten Women’s XI travel to Royal High Corstorphine Cricket Club this weekend looking to continue their strong start to the season following another victory over Stewart’s Melville last time out. Contributions with both bat and ball from Jenna Stanton, Maryam Faisal and captain Abbey Gore helped secure the win, leaving West top of the table after three games. RHC Lynx, meanwhile, have won one and lost one so far but arrive with confidence after a dominant 233 run victory over East Kilbride last weekend, with runs and wickets shared throughout their line-up, meaning West can expect another stern test.

Meanwhile, the Women’s 2XI are also on their travels as they make a trip to Stenhousemuir for a fixture this weekend. Good luck to all West’s sides!
