The Forecast: Final Day Title Showdowns Await

The Forecast will be our series of weekend previews for the 2025 season. We hope to cover team selection, form, fixtures and who to look out for in the weekend’s fixtures! We hope to not have to cover the rain!

We’ve reached the final weekend of the Western District Cricket Union 2025 and West’s first and second sides are still in the hunt for silverware.

Saturday

Stirling District vs West of Scotland XI

In the Western Premiership Two, the West of Scotland XI visit 3rd place Stirling District knowing a victory will confirm them as champions. It was, however, Saturday’s opponents who inflicted their only defeat of the season, by 19 runs back in June. Stirling currently sit in 3rd place but boast both the 3rd and 5th top scorers in the division in their ranks, Bryan Carnegie (394 runs) and Manav Malik (362 runs). 2nd placed Renfrew defeated them in a close encounter last weekend so Stirling will be looking for a response.

Partick XI vs Williamfield

Meanwhile the Partick XI will have one eye on results elsewhere as they face Stirling’s second side at Hamilton Crescent. League leaders Titwood visit fellow southside club Albert Park on Saturday - but their thin lead at the top of the table could disappear if they are defeated. Williamfield, meanwhile, have plenty to play for too - as Albert Park could leapfrog them putting them in danger of relegation. They will rely on the batting form of Jonathan Bowes (313 runs this year) and 18-wicket Sudeep Ravi to put Partick under pressure. Kick-off is at 12pm.

Hamilton Crescent XI v Torrance House

Our 3rd string face East Kilbride’s second side for the first time this season after June’s fixture fell foul of wet conditions in South Lanarkshire. Stand in vice captain Manish Kaushik will hope his side can back up a convincing 126 run victory at Marress last time out. Fellow mid table side Torrance House also have little to play for but Arman Khalil will look to continue his good form having scored 302 runs this season.
