All of our Saturday sides tasted success on the penultimate Saturday of the league campaign.

At New Anniesland, the West of Scotland XI defeated Glasgow Accies by 6 wickets. Accies batted first in tricky conditions and made a solid start with the bat, reaching 72 for the loss of just one wicket, but three quick wickets a piece from Dave McNulty and Tony Hullat as well as a bowling cameo of 2-3 from Moneeb Iqbal left them reeling. Opener Kapil Sindhwani top scored with 31 as the home side finished 138 all out. In reply, West chased down the win comfortably with over 14 overs to spare - overseas Lavert Masunda top scoring with 34 and unbeaten contributions from both in-form Jon Fearn (30) and Moneeb Iqbal (24*). The win leaves West in the top of the Western Premiership Two, though a tight one wicket win for second placed Renfrew takes the championship title to the final weekend.

The Partick XI beat Shimla Cottage Langloan by 84 runs at Hamilton Crescent. Having won the toss and elected to bat, Partick reached 46/0 before the quick loss of openers Sam Jakobsen and John Strachan before a rebuild from top-scorer Avaneesh Yilapavanam (30) and Andy Carswell (27) ended with the loss of another two quick wickets as West reached 107/4. Johnny Williams played a captain’s innings with a scratchy 24, despite a hamstring injury for much of it, as Partick ended their innings 178 all out. Langloan floundered in reply as Oscar Fry, Sarwar Mohammad and Strachan took early wickets leaving them 12/4 at one stage. A rebuild by Chad Tung (36) offered some resistance by the North Lanarkshire side were well beaten - ending their innings 94 all out. The win leaves Partick second still hoping for a slip up from leaders Titwood at Albert Park on the final day as Partick host Williamfield.

The Hamilton Crescent XI confirmed their Western Championship Two status with a strong 126 run victory over Marress. It was an excellent batting performance from our third side as they saw out an express opening bowling contribution before acclerating to reach 248/6 from their 40 overs. Opener George Clarke scored an excellent 56 from 90 balls before number 4 James Scott continued his fine form scoring 76* from 69 balls including one huge 6. Tight opening bowling spells from Naweed Zazai and Andrew Strong limited Marress’s run scoring early on before Saaid Sufi entered the fray - taking an excellent 5 wickets for just 9 runs to leave Marress 70/9 at one stage. Despite a wagging tail reaching 122, it was an excellent all round performance from Hamilton Crescent with all players making a contribution.

George Clarke (56), James Scott (76*) and Saaid Sufi (5-9) made vital contributions for the Hamilton Crescent XI.

On Sunday, Ayr were the victors by eight wickets as the Sunday XI returned to hosting duties at Hamilton Crescent. After being put into bat Rob Corner (56*) and Athsham Hussain (43) made the most of the good wicket and the Sunday side reached 170/8 from their 40 overs. But it proved not to be anywhere near enough as Ayr chased the score down inside 22 overs - the only wickets coming for Abdul Hameed and Oliver Leadbitter.
