The Forecast: League and cup clashes on busy weekend

The Forecast is series of weekend previews for the 2026 season. We cover team selection, form, fixtures and who to look out for in the weekend’s fixtures! We hope to not have to cover the rain!


Saturday

Renfrew vs Allied Vehicles West of Scotland XI

The Allied Vehicles West of Scotland XI face Renfrew in the first of two meetings between the sides this weekend. West were victorious in the corresponding fixture at the King George V Playing Fields last season, with both clubs ultimately securing promotion. James Fennah, Steven Richards and Avaneesh Yilapavanam return to the side that defeated GHK last Saturday.

Partick XI vs Renfrew 2s

In Championship Division One, Chris Ross’s Partick XI host Renfrew 2nd XI at Hamilton Crescent. Both sides opened their campaigns with victories last weekend, and Partick will be hoping to maintain their strong start to the season. There are five changes to the home side, including the return of Andy Galloway. First ball is at 12pm.

Langside vs Hamilton Crescent XI

The 3rd XI travel to Albert Park for their first away fixture of the season in an all Glasgow clash with Langside. Moosa Vakil’s side visit the southside looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat to The Tryst, while Ali Maddock returns to the squad.

Sunday

Allied Vehicles West of Scotland XI v Renfrew (Scottish Cup)

Renfrew visit Hamilton Crescent on Sunday for the second round of the Cricket Scotland Men’s Scottish Cup. While West progressed with victory at Ayr in round one, Renfrew swept aside East Kilbride, bowling them out for just 36 before chasing the target inside five overs. The match begins at 12pm.

Watsonian v Women’s XI

West Women travel to Edinburgh this weekend to face Watsonian at Craiglockhart. The hosts narrowly defeated RHC Lynx by two wickets in their previous outing and are expected to provide tough opposition. Sanjana Joshi is set to make her debut for Abbey Gore’s side after their opening game win over Grampian Thistles last weekend.

Ayr CC v Sunday XI

Meanwhile, Rizwan Hussain’s Sunday XI begin their 2026 campaign with a trip to Cambusdoon to face Ayr. There were a couple of closely fought games between the sides last season so expect more of the same this weekend.
