The Forecast: West travel to Stenny looking to keep run going

Saturday
LOC Hire Stenhousemuir vs Allied Vehicles West of Scotland
Following back-to-back victories over the top two sides in Premiership One, the Allied Vehicles West of Scotland XI are back on the road this weekend with a testing trip to face LOC Hire Stenhousemuir. West’s recent wins over Clydesdale and Ferguslie have reignited their push towards the top of the table, but another stern test awaits against a Stenhousemuir side sitting fourth, just behind them in the standings. Stenny continued their own impressive campaign with a 14-run victory over GHK at Old Anniesland last weekend, where Callum Grant starred with the ball, taking 3 for 21. West will be hoping to build on their recent momentum as they look to strengthen their position in the race for the top three.
Partick XI vs Stirling County 2nd XI
Also looking to build on recent victories are the Partick XI, who host Stirling County 2nd XI at Hamilton Crescent. West’s second string were comfortable winners over Bothwell last weekend, with valuable contributions from Tanishq Charde and strong bowling displays from David McNulty and Callum Dutia securing a 66-run victory. Stirling, meanwhile, also head into the fixture on the back of a win, defeating GHK Strathclyde by 89 runs at New Williamfield, with Felix Amos’ 57 and a five-wicket haul from Deon Du Preez proving decisive. Stirling’s 2nd XI currently sit sixth in the Championship Division One table, while Partick remain third and continue to chase league leaders Whitehaugh and second-placed Titwood. Play begins at 12pm, with some rain forecast.
Hamilton Crescent XI vs Woodhall East Kilbride
Our 3rd XI will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing defeat as they face Championship Division Two leaders Woodhall East Kilbride in Stirling. Hamilton Crescent fell to a 70-run defeat against Hillhead 2nd XI at Hughenden, with the batting line-up unable to build the momentum required in the chase. Woodhall, meanwhile, strengthened their position at the top of the table with a four-wicket victory over second-placed Nunholm, with experienced spinner Iftikhar Khan’s four-wicket haul proving decisive. Hamilton Crescent currently sit seventh in the table and will be eager to pick up points as the season enters its final stages, with pressure building from the chasing pack of Hillhead 2nd XI and Anniesland.
Sunday
West of Scotland Women v RHC Lynx
West’s Women’s XI continue their Premier League 40 campaign on Sunday as they host RHC Lynx at Hamilton Crescent. Abbey Gore’s side will be looking to halt a run of three consecutive defeats against a strong Carlton team, including last weekend’s 125-run loss. RHC Lynx arrive in Glasgow as formidable opponents, having posted a remarkable 407 for 3 from their 40 overs against East Kilbride last weekend, with Rodé de Nysschen’s 174 and an unbeaten 98 from Alyssa Erxleben leading the way. The visitors currently sit third in the league table, while West occupy fifth, with play scheduled to begin at 1pm and some rain forecast during the day.
Ayr CC v Sunday XI
Meanwhile, our Sunday XI continue their travels with a hastily arranged friendly away to Ayr at Cambusdoon this weekend. Rizwan Hussain’s side were comfortably defeated at the same venue earlier in the season, but have shown significant improvement since then, with a number of youngsters making their West debuts and contributing strongly. Despite defeat to Hillhead last weekend, performances from Sam McMillan and Adhrit Singh provided plenty of encouragement as the side continues to develop.
