About us

West of Scotland Cricket Club is based at Hamilton Crescent, located on Peel Street in Partick. The club currently fields six senior teams, a women’s team and various junior teams.

The club was founded in 1862 as a result of a meeting which took place at the then Clarence Hotel in George Square, Glasgow, between a group of local businessmen and players from the Clutha Cricket Club, who had used the northern part of Hamilton Crescent for matches prior to West's inception.

The historic site was the venue for the first ever official International Football match between Scotland and England on November 30th, 1872.

We are proud of our history and sporting heritage. Click here to find out more.

Coaching

The quality of our coaching structure at West is vital to its success in recruiting and retaining players for all sections of the club. With one of the largest and youngest coaching teams in the region, we aim to develop the skills of all our players and induct them into the club’s style of playing the game. We are committed to the development of our coaches to ensure we remain at the cutting edge of the sport.

Social

Why should you join West if you don't play cricket? It's the social side of the club that truly makes it a special place. So, if you enjoy the sport but don't participate, want to get involved in our popular social events, be a part of our community or simply wish to take advantage of the outdoor space and reasonably-priced bar, then find out more about our social membership.

Facilities

Our facilities are available for commercial hire when not in use by our members. Information about our ground, indoor-training facility and function-room hire can all be found here.

West End Garden Centre

In 2019, West End Garden Centre opened up in Hamilton Crescent, providing high-quality plants and flowers for your home and garden. We are delighted to be working with West End Garden Centre over the coming years and look forward to watching the business grow. The relationship is hugely beneficial for both parties with the garden centre bringing a host of new visitors to Hamilton Crescent.
