Women’s Cricket

In 2018, West of Scotland succeeded in setting up a Women’s Section. Despite being only two years into its existence, the Women’s Section has been both successful on the field and off. We welcome women of all abilities and ages to come and give cricket a try.

Women’s XI

In the 2019 season, West of Scotland entered the Cricket Scotland Women’s Premier League. The Women’s Premier League is a 30 over, hard ball competition. The team won 4 out of 7 games in a highly successful first campaign.

The team also entered the UK wide Vitality T20 competition. After getting through the first round, but were unlucky to exit the competition after a bowl off due to the weather.

Since its inception our Women’s section has attracted players from across the region, many of whom feature in representative sides.

From full Scotland Internationals to regional Stormers players, West is represented throughout the pathways.

Wee Bash

The Wee Bash is an annual indoor women’s cricket tournament run by Cricket Scotland. This is a brilliant way to get involved in competitive cricket for beginners as well as keeping fit and active throughout the winter months. West generally enter two teams in conjunction with Glasgow University and in recent years been very successful.

This competition is for everyone and definitely not one you want to miss!

Training

The Women’s Section train on Wednesdays during the season and weekly in our indoor facility over the winter months.

The club is lucky to have an abundance of coaches to lead training sessions as well regional and international players who support the squad with their experience and expertise.
